     On June 5, 1997, the spirit of God revealed to Apostle Johnson that she would have her own ministry. A banner was displayed saying, “Doris Johnson Ministries, Inc.” At that time she did not understand the vision because she was an active member of the Methodist Church. Three days later, the diocese made a decree that one, Pastor Doris Johnson, discontinue her women’s ministry and if she pursued it, she could not operate under the banner of the Methodist Church, nor mention their name. Leaving on that day in distress and seeking God all the more, He showed her in an open vision another banner and it said, “God Is My Banner”.

     The spirit of God revealed to her in the Word of God and gave her this Scripture: Psalm 60:4, “Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth”. Since then God has truly blessed her in her endeavor to accomplish those things instructed by God for her to do.On Saturday, March 4, 2000 at the General Board Meeting held in Pinewood, South Carolina. Apostle Doris Johnson took a step that no doubt God ordered. She handed in her resignation and walked away from the diocese that she had been a part of for over forty years. On Sunday, March 5, 2000, she preached her last sermon under the Methodist Diocese, and on Monday, March 6, 2000, God provided a building for the operation of the ministry that he ordained. To God Be The Glory!On June 7, 2000, Doris Johnson Ministries, Inc. became incorporated in the State of South Carolina as a non-profit organization for the purpose of religious, educational, social, fraternal, charitable or other eleemosynary purposes.In obeying every order commanded by God, Apostle Doris Johnson was instructed that she had carried out the orders given by him to establish Doris Johnson Ministries, Inc. and that it was time to build his church. In May of 2004, Doris Johnson Ministries, Inc. began operating under “Banner of Truth” - as was foretold in the vision God gave Apostle Johnson in 1997.
